Practical Nursing

The Practical Nursing program is 12 months in length and meets M-F from 8am to 2:30pm and begins every January, May, and September. Training includes a clinical externship with 8 hour days. The hours worked will vary depending on the facility. All steps for enrollment can be found in the program's brochure, points breakdown publication, and enrollment steps publication. The application deadline for the September 2012 class is July 17, 2012.

The Practical Nursing program prepares students to become members of the nursing team in hospitals, long term health care facilities, doctor's offices, outpatient clinics, and home health care. The course includes theory as well as supervised clinical experiences in all areas of nursing care. This program is approved through the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

Practical Nursing students are accepted based on a points system. The 45 students who accumulate and provide documentation for the most number of points will be selected every trimester. See the attachment below for a breakdown of the points system.
